Full Moon in Capricorn/”Hades Moon” ~ July 8th/9th 2017

From the lovely and poetic Chani Nicholas:

“Sitting within a degree of Pluto, the deity of the underworld, this full moon is aiming to take us on a journey. One that asks us to purge what cannot support us in the long-run. One that asks us to acknowledge the systems and the structures that cannot support the weight of our potential. One that asks us to accept the difficulties in our lives so that we can be part of discovering the solution to it

Pluto is a planet that removes from us what we no longer need. Though we might disagree with its assessment, it is not a planet to argue with. Its alchemical process is one that promises discomfort, but it also promises transformation.”

From the ever insightful Ang Stoic:

“It’s Full Moon time again. In the prelude to eclipse season, this moon – this Capricorn ‘Hades’ Moon is setting the stage for some quite powerful changes about to unfold on our planet. The Hades Moon occurs when a lunation makes a significant aspect to Pluto, stirring up issues of birth, death, and rebirth; abandonment and rejection; catharsis and crisis; hubris and nemesis; family dynasty and tribal karma, transformation and new life. It is a time to access and work through the depths of past trauma, compulsion, and alienation. No other effect has quite the same metamorphic and healing potential as the Hades Moon.”

“This is a critical, turning point for all of us. The Moon’s conjunction to Pluto at 18°♑09′ makes this lunation a emotionally precarious time, especially for sensitive egos whose inner nature is filled with complexities. Anything hidden underneath the surface (possibly built up over an entire lifetime of suppressed emotions, traumatic episodes around authorities/parenting, limitations and frustrations in general) could suddenly erupt without so much as a moment notice. Emotionally triggering events – little things that set off years of repression and disempowerment could suddenly unleash torrential rage and fury, unfurled without any discrimination or mercy for its absolutely devastating effects.”

“In some way, the Moon/Pluto’s contrast (opposition) to the instinctive, supportive Cancer Sun will see a sweet release of years of trauma and pain after years of eating away at our suppressed inner child.”

“In its most impactful contacts (check your chart), the Hades Moon has the mystical power to dredge out some deeply buried, often forgotten, hurtful and haunting memories of our past; evocations of ghosts and painful dramas that can emerge out of the deepest, most repressed and hidden recesses of our psyche. Behavioural issues that stem from perhaps even before our own lifetimes; transgenerational themes and conditions tied to the actions of our ancestors, tribe, nation.”

“This moment can be a time when we open up the vault of secrecy and bravely, through the help and guidance of counselling or mediation, uncover some of our most deep-seated frustrations, self-denying behaviours and heart blockages that lead to a certain emotional hardness or limiting of our ability to show empathy.

Sally Kirkman´s interpretation of the energies are equally insightful:

“The Full Moon takes place this weekend cutting across the Cancer/Capricorn axis of the zodiac. These two signs are the foundations of the zodiac representing your past (Cancer) and your future (Capricorn). They are about where you come from, your home and family (Cancer) and where you’re heading, your career and vocation (Capricorn).”

“Look out for death & rebirth symbols in your life, what needs to be reborn or where and how can self-transformation take place? Full Moons are associated with letting go and this is especially strong with Pluto in tow.”

If you are in the midst of a challenging situation, this Full Moon won’t necessarily be easy as it demands attention…. so dig deep to confront what’s going on and don’t bury your head in the sand.”

How to deal with this? Decide in your life what stays, what goes. If something’s come to an end and you need to move on, here’s your opportunity. Be guided by your emotions. Where in life do you feel angry? Are you in a situation where you are trapped or powerless? Have you given your power away, have you lost control? Consider too who holds power over you.

There’s a decisive feel to this whole run of astrology which culminates during the Full Moon. Get ready to slam the door shut if necessary, toughen up if you need to, and make those big decisions.

Nadia Gilchrist interprets this full moon in terms of power and loss:

“Everything will feel intensely personal, since moody Cancer opposes this Moon. Feelings will be bruised, protectiveness will be triggered, needs will be ravenous.

As intimidating as this sounds, it’s just business as usual with Pluto. You might as well take an unblinking look at what this Full Moon will reveal. The more you try to avoid it, the more relentless the exposure will be. And this Moon could deliver something favourable. A Jupiter/Pluto mix can bring success, as power is amplified. There could be a big win. But, if there’s been a misuse of power, a big loss is likely. “

Anne Reith titles her article on the full moon in Capricorn “We cannot avoid the consequences of our choices, so we need to choose wisely” which is always an excellent advice:

“WOW!  The conjunction between the Moon (emotions) and Pluto (use of power) means that we need to consciously choose to keep an eye on our feelings so they don’t let them get out of control and/or don’t used emotions as a weapon.  This is further supported by the opposition (180°) between the Moon/Pluto and the Sun (identity, self-esteem) and Mars (action, assertiveness/aggressiveness).  The bottom line is that we need to watch our words and actions carefully!  Adding possible fuel to this fire is the square (90°) Jupiter, because the largest planet in our universe can spur us to overreact by blowing things out of proportion.

This is a lot of intense pressure that we will need to carefully and consciously navigate.  If we slip into being unconscious and let it run rampant, it has the potential to be a destructive time.  Emotions such as anger, fear, depression, and/or grief could feel like they have control over our inner worlds, and we may feel emotionally reactive.  This is especially true if we are feeling insecure or vulnerable.  It is also important not to overestimate our capabilities, get into power struggles, and/or resort to hurtful actions or words that could result in a lot of regrets.”

Anne elaborates further on the energies that follow the full moon so reading her whole article is highly recommended – see http://www.annereith.com/full-moon-in-capricorn-july-8-2017/

Ichrak has an excellent article on Pluto´s energies affecting this full moon by conjunction:

“The Full Moon in Capricorn can raise difficult psychological and emotional material. These would be the kinds of experiences that are easier and more palatable to deny, overlook, or intentionally avoid. This includes power dynamics or differentials between people involved with one another, and personal internal and external responses to triggering.

Shining a light on something — looking at it with awareness — often comes with a need to take responsibility in some way by doing something about it. Having a difficult or taboo conversation might mean exploring territory that requires us to come up with personal boundaries or new policies in order to meaningfully engage and make progress with the material. The alternative approach is to stuff it down and circle back around to meet it in the same form, only to repeat the process. This approach is understandable — it is taken up as a form of protection, to save energy, or to avoid engaging with things that are fearsome.”

“The call of this Full Moon is to meet what is emerging in the full light of consciousness. Invite it out into the light of the back deck for tea.
For many people, playing with this energy individually and internally might be a luxury, as, for one, Pluto is one of the easiest planets to see in others before we see and own its qualities and origin in ourselves and two, that fact under these astrological skies makes it just as likely that others will see that Pluto in us. With oppositions from a Mars at the end of its cycle, we may be challenged directly or indirectly by others who wish to pin Pluto on us in order to work out their own stuff.

“The Moon joins with Pluto every month. It is often a fleeting influence that is nonetheless felt as an undertow, that can all to easily be swept under the rug. This Full Moon represents a pause in that process, an encouragement to pick the rug up, examine what has been stored beneath it, and sweep the dust and grime out the door and into the light of day.

Allow the strength of the Sun in Cancer to serve as a reminder that we are held in the grace of forces whose greatness we cannot fathom, who smile lovingly at the attempts of our own feeble wills to direct the story of our own lives, and all the same love and want the best for us, if we will only appeal to them.”

And then there is Pat Lilies´s view on the full moon in Capricorn where she reminds us that “the cosmos is inviting us to train in the martial art of creating our future” and she goes deeper into the other major aspect players in the full moon chart:

“With Mars involved, it becomes personal; we are renovating ourselves, our ego-personality, how we have always shown up. With Pluto, the lesson stretches to become both societal as well as personal. We surrender our old snakeskin, old forms and institutions and await our transformation and expansion into the ‘new’. Find your detachment. Watch the dissolution with a neutral eye.

With the Sun in Cancer, it’s the time of the zodiac when we are concerned with nourishment, family, tribe, home, mother, food issues, the past, and our ancestral inheritance that means ancestral patterning as well. What ancestral patterns are you carrying that you could be free of? This is the time for their ritual healing. The Full Moon in Capricorn contrasts home with community, our achievements particularly in our careers, how we show up with authority and integrity and uphold the societal values and stabilizing institutions.”

“Ruling planet Saturn is involved in a Finger of God or Yod pattern – a catalyst for adaptation in hard times, Mars and the South Node are involved, so it might go something like this – disciplined practical action to get beyond the old way of doing things with your emotional charge acting as an obstacle needing to be cleared. Mars and Saturn are like the gas and the brake of the zodiac, so what do you go for? Well, the gas, but how?

Not with a righteous zealousness, but with a solid footing in a plan looking at the big picture. With Mars, Pluto, Saturn, Moon and Sun all active in this Full Moon chart, we’ve got focus and energy for some practical restructuring in the areas of our lives that have just been yearning for attention, so let’s use it!”

“In this Moon chart, Chiron squares Ceres, goddess of the grain, Earth-Mother Nourisher, midwife for birth and death. Chiron in Pisces will help Ceres in last degree Gemini surrender her grief and outrage with the past to enable her to free her power and love for all living and growing things.

Nature is our healer here. Turn to the Earth for this Capricorn Moon. Send your roots deep into our Earth Mother and honor and bless her for providing us with this physical life. May she have everything she needs.”
